The Executive Committee of the Falkenberg Municipal Council proposes a land swap that will create the conditions for a new emergency services station in Vessigebro. The agreement involves the municipality exchanging 177,000 square meters of agricultural land in Ljungby-Bergagård for 4,000 square meters of land at Vattsgård, along with a compensation payment of SEK 1.8 million to the municipality.

The new emergency station is planned to be located in western Vessigebro, near the petrol station. A geotechnical study has confirmed the site's suitability according to the municipality's assessment. The acquired land enables a lot size of a total of 7,000 square meters, including land already owned by the municipality.

Per Svensson, Chair of the Municipal Executive Committee, comments on the decision and emphasizes the importance of the strong dialogue held with the landowner.

“The new emergency station is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of residents in Vessigebro and the surrounding area. We have listened to the wishes of Vessigebro residents regarding the location and have taken both financial and practical considerations into account. This land swap is an important milestone that enables the construction of a modern emergency station while also promoting local agriculture. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the landowner for a productive dialogue and great cooperation—it has been essential in making this solution possible.”

Miranda Bodiroza, Chair of Räddningstjänsten Väst (Western Rescue Services), adds:

“A new emergency station in Vessigebro is a long-term and important investment to ensure we can offer swift and effective responses when they are most needed. We look forward to having a modern, well-located station that supports our operations and contributes to increased safety in the area. At the same time, I want to stress the importance of creating a good working environment for our on-call firefighters and ensuring the facilities are fit for purpose. This is crucial both for the safety of our staff and for attracting and retaining skilled personnel.”

The land at Ljungby-Bergagård 1:2, which is being transferred to Vattsgård, is currently used for agricultural purposes and is located within a water protection area. The transaction has been coordinated with Vatten & Miljö i Väst AB, which has given its approval.

Planning work for the new station will begin immediately, and the land swap agreement will take effect once the cadastral procedure is completed.
